We Are...

South River Internet Services is a crazy idea concocted by Ted Mathias. But it is a company that has been in business in one form or another for the last ten years. Ted started with Mathias Photography in 1992 after working as a staff photographer for the Easton Star-Democrat. Working with the Associated Press, Agence France-Pressé and several advertising agencies, he has covered events as diverse as Presidential Inuagurations, pro sports playoff games, dog of the year, and high-school enviromental projects.

In 1994, Ted began programming web sites as electronic portfolios, first for himself and then fellow photographers. Next, Mathias Consulting was born when Northrop Grumman gave him a contract to build two web sites for them in 1996. Since then Ted has built several dozen web sites for companies including T Rowe Price, US West/Quest, egg Mason and Childrens' National Medical Center, either directly, or as a contractor for other design firms. While working with Stackig/TMP (a Monster.com agency) in 1999, two sites created in 1998-99, two sites won awards from The Web Marketing Association (WMA), including the Outstanding award for U. S. Customs (www.customs.gov - lead programmer) and one of the three Best of Industry award winners for the agency for the Chicago-based Westell, Inc. (www.westell.com, since redesigned, view original site - assistant designer, programmer).

Then in 2000, South River Internet Services was started when web site hosting services were offered. We started offering to host web sites when we found that most other hosting companies knew little about ColdFusion. Now we host sites we've built, as well as those built by others. One our major clients, Ogilvy PR, regularly sends us their new sites for hosting. We've also begun producing QuickTime VR projects, as well as QuickTime movies.

For the past two years, Ted has been working with Sean Beavins at Stackig/TMP (a monster.com agency), then at Ogilvy PR, a worldwide advertising firm. Now, Sean often provides .asp programming, as well as Flash and Director programming. On other occasions, we bring in writers, designers and other programmers we've known to provide the complementary services to complete projects.
