United Way/CFC
Since 1870, individuals in the community have supported Children's through private philanthropy. While cash is the means most people use to make charitable contributions, other methods of philanthropy often provide greater tax advantages for donors and their families. Here are a few examples:

Individual Giving
Gifts of Stock: Avoid capital gains tax
The rapid appreciation of the value of stocks has placed many investors in the position of having substantial capital gains exposure should they decide to liquidate their holdings. Making gifts of appreciated securities to charitable institutions like Children's provides a double benefit to you: no capital gains need ever be paid on the gifted securities and you enjoy a nice tax deduction.

Children's Circle of Care
The Children's Circle of Care honors individuals who generously provide philanthropic support to advance the work of the twenty largest children's hospitals in North America. Children's Circle of Care activities and events are held locally and nationally to celebrate the spirit of philanthropy and to recognize and highlight the important role that children's hospitals play in both the United States and Canada.

Leave a Legacy: Wills and Bequests
The most common way individuals make future gifts to Children's is through their wills. A bequest to the Hospital can be made in a variety of forms: you may leave a specific amount, all or a portion of your estate, or the residuary of your estate to Children's. Charitable bequests will help reduce your potential taxable estate. Individuals who provide for Children's through bequests, charitable trusts and gift annuities are recognized as members of the James C. Hall Society, named in honor of Dr. Hall, founder and generous benefactor of Children's Hospital.

Life Income Gifts: Charitable gift annuities
A gift to Children's to purchase a charitable gift annuity can help provide additional income for you or a member of your family. In addition, you will receive a charitable deduction for a portion of the donated funds while supporting Children's National Medical Center's mission to provide the best health care services to children and their families. Either cash or appreciated property (like stock) may be used to fund a gift annuity.

Life Income Gifts: Charitable Trusts
Charitable trusts often provide the means for donors to benefit themselves, their families and their favorite charities. Cash or appreciated property can be used to establish an irrevocable trust that pays income to the donor or designee for her life or for a term of years. We welcome the opportunity to work with you and your financial or investment advisors to establish a Trust to benefit you, your family and Children's National Medical Center. Donating Life insurance
Many parents purchase life insurance policies when their children are young. As the kids become independent, the need for such an insurance policy to provide for them no longer exists. Designating Children's as the owner and beneficiary of a fully paid life insurance policy can be an easy and painless way to make a substantial philanthropic gift while receiving a significant charitable deduction.

Support Children's Hospital through Workplace Giving
What is Workplace Giving?
Workplace Giving is an opportunity for all employees in your company to support Children's Hospital through a company-wide fundraising effort. Current workplace giving programs benefiting Children's include an internet-based two-month campaign, a one-month promotional event, and a 3-week department-oriented events campaign. Many organizations choose to match the amount raised by their employees to indicate corporate support.
How can your employees make a difference at Children's Hospital?
Chances are, your employees are impacted by Children's Hospital. In fact, many employees with children may have used the services offered by Children's, or they may have been treated here as children themselves. By making an individual contribution based on level of comfort, each employee feels that he has made a significant impact. Every penny counts!
Rewards such as pins, teddy bears, and "dress down" days can be offered as incentives to encourage support. Children's Hospital recognizes all workplace giving corporate partners on its annual Children's Miracle Network Broadcast. Children's Hospital will create a corporate vignette that will be shown on the broadcast for any company raising $25,000 or more during its workplace giving campaign.

Special Programs
Bob Levey´s Campaign for Children´s
Children´s National Medical Center is unique in it´s commitment to provide care to every child who walks through the doors, no matter of their ability to pay.
The Washington Post has been supporting Children´s National Medical Center for over 50 years. Washington Post columnist Bob Levey shares the stories of Children´s patients and staff while encouraging support from readers for his holiday season campaign. The campaign has raised millions of dollars with the help of generous donations by readers ranging from school children to senior citizens, individuals to organizations. The donations to the Bob Levey campaign go to help support the uncompensated charity care that Children´s provides everyday.
Every penny makes it possible for Children´s to make the best pediatric care available to the region´s most vulnerable children

Auto Donation Program
The vehicle campaign is an exciting way of giving to Children's.
This program invites and encourages the donation of used
vehicles. The used vehicles are towed, auctioned, and
the donor receives a great tax-deduction. All proceeds
are used to provide for families
who need financial assistance.
This program was a wonderful initiative started through the Bob Levey´s Campaign for Children´s. The success of this program is due to the concern and support of donors who want an opportunity to give to Children's.
